Meetings unless otherwise indicated will be at the St Georges and Priorslee Parish Hall at 7.30 on the first Thursday of the month

The Visit will be by Own Transport We will meet at The Rock Houses In time to Start the Tour at 10am ( It is a 5/10 min steepish walk up from the car park)

7th November 2013 George Nash Prepared for War: The archaeology of The Royal Ordnance Factory Featherstone
The British Government became nervous of Hitler's rise to power in 1932 as a result began to slowly establish a series of Royal Ordnance Factories across the western half of Britain. As the crises in Europe deepened several of these factories were in operation from 1936. ROF Featherstone, one of 20 such establishments was conceived in November 1941 but was operational by April 1942. This lecture will discuss the archaeological evidence of this little known piece of modern history and discuss how can we preserve such an important resource in advance of imminent development of the site?
